I liked this album/I disliked this album because I am a racist.
Re: Al Green - Call Me (1973)
The obligatory Goddy track.

Adopting his pastor-in-the-pulpit-persona.

Dainty electric piano.
Deep acoustic guitar twanging.

We're only halfway through it and it seems to have been going on for hours.

The song ended two minutes ago. Why's it still going?

It is over.
It wasn't my cup of tea. All the songs were played too slowly and the tunes were aimless.
Now to look back at the thread and see what everybody else made of it.

Well, I loved it.
It's not perhaps his best album, but in truth just about all of his albums sound like that.
So, if you actually like Al Green, they all merit a ★★★★ review.
Never quite getting that extra ★ though, due to their brevity and generally predictable formula.
It's a uniquely soulful sound in the annals of soul music though and Green's voice is soulfully unique.
