It might turn off if all the alcohol evaporated before all the water did, as then the water would be able to reach 100 C.

Why would a kettle full of alcohol stay on forever? Wouldn't it evaporate?

The alcohol boils away at a lower temperature (78 C) than the water. So the energy that would go into boiling the water, goes into vapourising the alcohol - there's a thing called 'latent heat of vapourisation' which means it takes extra heat to turn something into vapour once it's got to boiling point.

That means the water can't heat up to the point where the kettle's thermostatic switch would turn it off (presumably 100 C) until all the alcohol has boiled away, and that's going to take a while.

Shocking waste of vodka anyway.
