What is the matter with Japanese people?
I must say though, it sounds delicious.

Paul Simon's inspiration came from a dish on an Chinese restaurant menu.
And they're much worse than the Japanese.

I got a big bag of quick-cook French fries for £1.50. They were delicious, but it was humiliating shopping for them: I found myself part of a tense group of people standing round the end of the aisle where they put the cheap chilled stuff, all waiting for the Tesco employee lady to finish putting the latest bargains on the shelves.
As soon as she'd gone we all pressed forward like zoo animals at feeding time.

I watched a man grabbing two cheap Beef Carbonaras and thought 'That will be me if I end up unemployed again.'

I should have called this thread 'Bargain bin boasting/confessions of shame'

I got a hefty pack of salmon in white wine sauce with new potatoes and broccoli on my way home today, reduced to £1.26!
Additionally, during my 7am visit to Sainsburys 9 hours earlier, I got a top notch new keyboard for my computer, reduced from £18 to £12. It's great, it's all subtle clicky noises and it doesn't have the the legends worn off half the keys like the old one did.

The bargain chilled section is now my first port of call when I go into Tescos on my way home. Getting dinner for under £2 makes me feel like I've really achieved something.

Too many people have found out about the bargain chilled section now. There's always at least 2 people there when I arrive, and they take ages mauling all the packets around while I watch impatiently.
However, my patience was rewarded when I got some mushroom stroganoff today for £1.35!

I got butternut squash gratin in pecorino sauce for £1.04! That's the cheapest proper meal I've ever had from the bargain chiller area.

Last night I got a pack of cod mornay, mash and peas for £1.82. A bit bland, but I was fl*pping starving due to staying at work an extra 2 hours to observe Mercury, so it was delicious.

A sad tale from the Bargain Bin today. I got some leftover deli counter prawn toasts reduced to £1.50, and they were DISGUSTING, I was nearly sick afterwards. 0/10 do NOT recommend.
