According to my hygrometer, the humidity is 54-55% in every room of the house.

According to the dehumidifier, it's 61%.

This room's down to 52% now.

I feel like all the moisture's being sucked out of me.

I have now filled the 2 litre bucket.

Humidity in my bedroom is now either 50% or 56%, depending upon which implement I believe.

The temperature is either 20 degrees or 21 degrees, depending on which thermometer I believe.

But I can confirm that, as the humidity goes down, the temperature goes up.

I have, therefore, just turned my thermostat down by one half of one degree to compensate.

That is because the warmer the air is, the more moisture it can hold. And if you make the air warmer, without adding any more moisture, the relative humidity goes down, because the air is now holding a smaller proportion of the maximum amount of moisture it could hold.

Yeah, but reducing the humidity doesn't increase the temperature. It might make a it feel cooler on a hot day as sweating works better, but not making a cold day warmer.

I think the theory is that it takes less effort to heat up dry air than damp air and, therefore, with the heating on, the room will get warmer.

In other news, I'm now testing its laundry drying capabilities, for the first time.

So what are you going to do about it?

I've had my dehumidifier targeted at 50% for the past 24 hours. I've now come to the conclusion that that's far too low a target, as my eyes feel like all moisture's been sucked from them.

Therefore, I'm going to raise it to 55%.

But, before I do it, I'm going to reduce it to 45%, in this room, to see if it makes the temperature go up.

While I've been researching dehumidifiers, I've started to come to the conclusion that I might also need a humidifier.
