According to The Radio Times, the Horror Channel is currently showing The First of the Few, the story of the designer of the Spitfire.

That doesn't seem very Horror Channel to me.

I shall put it on and see if they're right.

They are wrong. It is showing something called Inferno.

It is about a giant fireball.

It is a thin night on the TV.

My telly seems to be failing.

What's up with it?

Well, I turned it on last night and I immediately noticed a flickering in the picture.

This caused me some small concern.

However, it settled itself down after a short while.

Then, I turned it on about 30 minutes ago and the sound came on but the picture was blank - then the telly went into standby with the standby light flashing red.

After that the remote control wouldn't switch it on again.

I fiddled with the buttons on the back and unplugged it and all that and managed to get to come on as before - sound on, no picture, then switching into standby mode with flashing red lights.

Theeeeeen, I fiddled about again and managed to get the same sound, no picture mode, but this time I blindly pressed the menu button on the remote and that made it actually come on.

Again, with the flickery picture that settled down.

I sense that the telly is on the brink of the blink however.

I now am faced with the prospect of hoping the telly will survive the next three days or so and then getting a new one in the sales, or traipsing up to Argos before 5pm tomorrow to buy a new one.

I'm torn and wracked with worry.
