This sounds a lot like an underpowered '79-'83 Herbie Hanc*ck track.

It is over.

It was professional enough but was too mechanical and relentless for my liking.

Now to look back at the thread and see what everybody else made of it.

★★★★ from me, it was just the 'meh' first and last track that stopped it getting a full foive off me.

Odd album that.

Started and ended slightly/quite indifferently but surged to occasionally spectacular heights on occasion during the middle 2/3s.

The highs were very high, the lows were, at worse, a bit underwhelming.

Overall though, an often exhilarating listen.

Also, most importantly, considerably better than Wendy James.

Done. Well it's an album I could very easy acquire into my collection (I now have a Sylvester compilation but it doesn't feature anything from this album) but other than the title track - which I'd give 5 stars alone - not much else excited me as such, though all perfectly listenable. I think I'd give it 3.5, but will round it up to 4 for the voting.

You forget that there is one amongst us who is conspicuously "without the soul for getting down".

And singing not being entirely necessary for a song to be any good...

I thought it was a bit mean. So I deleted it. I think I might have questioned, err, "someones" appreciation of the groove, as opposed to melody.



I think I might also have quoted some of the lyrics from Adam and the Ants' Kings of the Wild Frontier too.

I've just realised Do You Wanna Funk wasn't the title track of this album - not sure where I got that idea from. But that was definitely my favourite song on the album, and not surprisingly the biggest single.
