Well that was highly quirky and enjoyable in the aforementioned ironic way. Incredibly gentle and retro, lounge music at its genuine best. And yes, romantic in the traditional and much-missed way.

What got me was not that he was especially 'cringe' at the easy listening lounge singing, but just how alien and archaic the songs/arrangement was, like 1920s foxtrots or something. I think I'm old enough to remember when they were if not contemporary, well old-fashioned, but they could still be considered a form of 'pop music'
