It's been a bit nippy the last couple of days. I've had to start wearing socks about the house again. Also a jumper.

The word jumper comes from 'jump' meaning a big baggy jacket, < French jupe which now means a skirt.

Also of course the Americans use 'jumper' to mean a pinafore dress. But then they would, wouldn't they.

There was a beautiful clear sky this morning, and now it's bright and sunny. But it's hard to tell how warm it will actually be.

It reminds me of the autumn after I finished uni, when the bright sunny weather smilingly concealed the frozen horrors of unemployment awaiting me.

I did get a job in the end. 5 years later.
