Here is a picture of that London which I took from the highest point in Essex once.

Look at the little skyscrapers in the grey haze in the middle, like a toy city.

I've often wondered what the furthest places the London skyline can be seen from.

I've been trying to find photos and/or footage of my namesake tower block Butterfield Court in Dudley being visible on the horizon from towards Coventry in the east, and from the Shropshire Hills towards the border with Wales in the west (a range of 50 miles as the crow flies), yet I can't find any, but I promise I have seen it with my own eyes. Have you tried Flickr?

That's where I found the photos of York Minster, Lincoln Cathedral and the Humber Bridge taken from Sheffield.

Also, the Welsh mountains, taken from just outside Sheffield.

The Google Maps measuring device shows that to be at least 70 miles as the crow flies, if not 90 miles if it's actual Snowdon!

From Birdlip Hill near Gloucester you can see Hay Bluff 45 miles away, and further on into Wales on a clear day (unlike the one on which Google went there).

I can see the Battersea Power Station chimneys from my living room.

I've been there a couple of times. A popular place of rest on long journeys. There are always lots of single men sitting in their cars near bushes on the car park. shifty

Birdlip Hill is quite well known. It's a great high up viewpoint with a large car park just off the M5 and whatever the big dual carriageway trunk road is that runs from Gloucester to Swindon, the M4 and beyond. I've stopped there on the way to the South West and the only time I've been to Stonehenge.

The car park appears to attract certain types of men.

Just browsing FanGirl's Street View link, these may or may not be those certain types of men.

But the twice I've been there were quite a few of these random men sitting in and out of cars. I'm sure they're just there for..... business.

I didn't expect my innocent landscape photography thread to turn into ******Watch.

I apologise. Though I did enjoy the detective work.
