I do have to get my own flat/building fully fixed up first, then I can swap with my mother. Sell hers, and I could use the proceeds for a smaller flat for myself in London, and a place like that, and somewhere else for my son once he’s in the second or third year of wherever he goes to uni.

I’m here through the October holidays, which is his chance - come again, stay, think, explore, spend more time in Edinburgh. Is it the UCAS route to Edinburgh, or is it a French or Belgian university after all? This is his final year of school, so he needs to decide in the next few weeks.

I have begun dividing my stuff up according to when I'll need it :-

Now - for Nomadism - eg clothes, medicines, documents
Next - for Minimal Settlement - eg kettle, plates, cutlery, single mattress, typing chair, table, selected books
Later - for Settlement - the rest of the furniture and books and ornaments and souvenirs
Much later - for when I stop working* - telescope, retro computing stuff, projects

I'm going to pack everything in densely so the most likely needed next stuff is at the front of my storage units. In theory this will save me £100 a month cos I won't need aisles to access the 'much later' stuff easily.

*I mean when I'm too old to work, not when I cease to function

Looks good but you may be sharing the living room with the North Sea at times..

I sneaked off to my storage unit for an hour. I'm putting all the Post-Work stuff at the back, cos it will be a long time till I need it.

Unless I get sacked for sneaking off to my storage unit.

I’m hoping for a dramatic storm one night, I love those. Yes, it’s pretty, that’s the area I’m in. I really like the coastline. The beach is steeper than you might think, but you’re right - I haven’t looked into flooding history at all, which is a major oversight.

Been a weird month October has for me. The good being I met my party leader and deputy leader who visited us in Bristol. Lovely, down to Earth people and so approachable. Even had a picture taken with them. Positive meeting of ideas.

After that, I got my Facebook and semi-dormant Instagram account hacked. Then randomly, someone hacked my Ebay in Ukraine and spent £150 on Xbox codes. I cancelled the card and told the bank and Ebay. Luckily, I have my money back. Really frustrating it has been.

Finally went to my storage unit to put some items in that I got rid of for the first time since I moved. Felt like my old life meets my new life, and seeing my whole life in one storage unit on the outskirts of Bristol's City's ground. Yes there are some sentimental items in there (ornaments, pictures of my late ex and his late brother and other deceased family members), but there's a fair bit of junk I'll happily get rid of when I get my own place.

I also have a storage unit adjacent to a football ground. My issue is that I think 'What if there's a supply chain issue when I want ot settle, and I can't buy chairs/tables/duvets?' and that means I have to keep everything apparently.
