I thought 205 degrees didn't sound very high. I normally do everything at 220 degrees.

A hot pork pie? I've never heard of such a thing.

I have now tried making a scone in a mug, in the microwave, using the ready-made scone mix I got from the shops.

I half-filled the mug with the powder, added plenty of water and gave it a good stir, with a fork, until it had a creamy consistency.

I then microwaved it for 1.5 minutes at 700 watts.

It worked, although it turned out I hadn't microwaved it for long enough, as the bottom half of it was nice and dry but the top was still a bit soggy.

Tomorrow, I shall try doing it for 2 minutes instead.

Unlike when I've made bread, and chocolate cake, by this method, I didn't bother to melt some butter in the bottom of the mug first. This seems to have been an improvement, as the texture of the food was noticeably improved without it.

I made a sort of bubble-and-squeak out of potatoes, green pepper and onion, and had it with Sainsburys salmon fishcakes.

I have just tried mixing chopped-up cheese into my microwave bread recipe.

And it actually worked.

It was a nightmare to mix but it came out of the microwave with an actual crispy crust, which it has never had before.

It also took 2.5 minutes to cook, instead of the usual 1.5.

That's a very modest 62g of dry rice per person. I use 75g.

God only knows how much curry powder Wendi would use!
