Every summer when we have a (brief) hot spell, I think I need to buy a fan, then the heat goes and I forget about it. I actually bought one the other day - a mini tower fan from Lidl for just £14.99. It seems decent enough with three settings and swivel function, though I put it straight back into the box after I'd tested it and haven't fetched it back out yet despite the relative hotness.

It's so awesomely powerful that I only have it on the lowest setting.

I have 5 fans in storage, because I used to have one in every room when I had a house.

Premier Inn rooms often have one already in the room nowadays. When I first started staying in PIs, you had to go downstairs and ask for a fan.

In hotels, almost as useful as a fan's cooling function is its anti-noise function. A fan turned up to high is a pretty good blocker for late-night jabbering from next door.
