What were you doing in our library in Essexshire, some 60 miles from your usual urban haunts?

The obverse is completely unreadable, I have it soaking in some soft drink at the moment. But that coin has been out of circulation for 31 years.
Surely it can't have been there all that time.

In the past few weeks I've picked up countless 1p coins off the floor in random places - and last week in my local shopping centre I found a whole 50p coin which everyone else had been stepping over! Excited

Most of it will end up in a charity shop so I don't feel too guilty.

Like with flibby's coin, but not quite so old, and still in circulation, last year I found a very tarnished 1991 5p coin in the mud when walking in some woods. It looked like it had been in those woods for years. That too got spent in a charity shop.

I saw a penny on the floor in Tescos yesterday but I left it there, cos technically it's property of Tescos.

New Zealandland 2 cents. From the first series of decimal currency coins. Exact same size and equivalent value as a current British penny.
Features flowers from the kowhai tree. As a fliblet they always made me think of miniature people.

I picked up a £1 coin off the floor of Lidl a couple of days ago near to the entrance!  The money-finding thread 1f60d

I also found a 5p coin on the floor of Asda on the outskirts of Clacton when I was in the area a couple of weeks ago.

A couple of weeks before that I picked up a scratched 1p coin off a car park.

I've made £1.06p in free money in the last month or so. Excited

Then a few minutes later I saw and picked up a 5p coin. happy

The latter looked like it had been on the floor for a long time as it was matt grey and scratched.

I found 5p in the change chute of a self checkout I was using last week. (I'd paid by card). I took it, despite it technically being the property of the supermarket.
