My current desktop is a Windows 7 machine...out of support etc but I am used to it. Just bought a new desktop off my son which is a Ryzen 7 RTX 3060 graphics system (whatever that all means)
I'm too scared to set it up because I just know I will have problems..

My laptop battery is showing zero charge and is showing no signs of recharging. Could it be the end for the plucky supplier of voltage?

My last laptop, the battery went very erratic after about 12 years, I was afraid to use it in case it caught fire, so I bought a smart new thin one.

My laptop's adaptor has packed in. It started to emit fizzing, sparky sounds which didn't sound like good news to me. Therefore, I've replaced it with the one from my previous laptop.
So far, it's working...

Mine's the same. I have to have it plugged in all the time and still says 0% charged. It has been like that for years.
EDIT: I've just checked for the first time in ages and it says "255% available"! Though I know if I take the lead out it'll still switch itself off after about 20 seconds without closing down properly.

May be an 8-bit register - it might want to tell you -1%, as an error message, and that would be represented as 255 in that situation.
