Now I think about it, The group he was in did do songs about the singers cat.

Yes.

By which I mean, he writes songs as well as the other members of the band he's in and doesn't write songs for other people he's not in a band with.

Although he may have written songs for other bands he's not a member of, but I just don't know.

Because I haven't checked.
