A brilliant and original artist.

His distinctive style of hatching and cross-hatching remains very influential in my own art.

Charles Aznavour is definitely one of those people who I couldn't think if they were still alive or not, much like Denis Norden.

Montserrat Caballé has died, aged 85.

She had been suffering from health complaints for some time and was admitted to hospital in Barcelona last month, according to news agency Efe.

Her career spanned 50 years.

She had stints with the Basel Opera and Bremen Opera before her international breakthrough in 1965 in Lucrezia Borgia at Carnegie Hall in New York.

She went on to perform with the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera and Vienna State Opera, appearing opposite the likes of Luciano Pavarotti and Placido Domingo.

The song Barcelona was first released in 1987 and later became an anthem for the city's 1992 Olympics, the year after Mercury died. Caballé sang at the opening ceremony with Domingo and José Carreras.

Which year - 1992 or original 1987 release?

It reminds me of sitting in my sister's car (a Metro) on the car park of a local chip shop and she was playing the Barcelona cassette single, having recently passed her driving test.

I didn't even know until yesterday that Tina had practically been on death's door over the last few years due to a stroke, cancer and then serious kidney problems, resulting in complications and a trip to a Diginitas euthanasia clinic rival to "book her place for whenever the time arises" or something.

It's Switzerland after all. bawl

Oh. It seems that Tony Joe White, who wrote songs such as "Steamy Windows" and "Rainy Night in Georgia", as well as having a solo career, has died aged 75.
