I would never wear official driving gloves, cos I associate them with the 'can't even drive' man from Fist of Fun



But since I got my current car (Jodie Whittacar, who Peter Carpaldi regenerated into after a lorry ran into him) I've worn a cotton glove on my left hand because the gear lever label is on metal foil which is peeling off, and the sharp edges cut my hand when I change gear.

No, but I do wear driving shoes. I keep a pair under the seat. I can't work out how anyone can drive in heels. I can do everything in them except drive - I can't even get my head round the logistics of doing so.

Speaking of gear sticks, a friend of mine once worked for the summer in a crematorium, and the family of a woman with a titanium hip asked if it could please be removed, washed, and given to them so they could have it turned into a gear stick.

Apparently she loved driving.
