The song was inspired by the many meetings the Beatles had in an attempt to sort out their break-up legalities. The opening two sections are about being stuck in rooms, conducting endless discussions, and the line, "If we ever get out of here," was said by George. The bit where the rain exploded with a mighty crash and they fell into the sun was the moment it was all done and dusted, the papers were signed and they were finally free of the band. Presumably, the line, "Came the sound of searching for us everywhere but we never will be found," signified that the Beatles were gone forever.
