After the Gold Rush or Before the Brass Crawl?
Re: Neil Young - After the Gold Rush (1970)
Slumped over the barstool blues.
Really strange, sinister lyrics.
Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory?

It's like Neil's won over the object his affections through badgering and self-pity and guilt-tripping and now regrets it it bitterly and wants her to really leave him because he "believes in her".

This is the kind of narrative that Bob Dylan would've stretched to 10 minutes.

Re: Neil Young - After the Gold Rush (1970)
It is over.
It was pleasant, if musically undistinguished. I could have done with a few more rockers to liven it up.
Now to look back at the thread and see what everybody else made of it.

Well, it was good, but it seemed a bit more lightweight than I remember, ★★★★ from me.
