Sewing and dressmaking/tailoring
I split the shoulder seam on my best winter coat today by exuberantly pulling it on over a fleece and 3 t-shirts.
So just now I've sewn it up again. The outer fabric of the coat was unusually tough, I had to use a coaster to push the needle through.
My sewing technique has always been a bit rough and ready

I think I'm quite good at sewing but I hate it. Threading needles is too fiddly and I never seem to be able to find a thimble to stop me hurting my little thumbs.

And I always drop the cotton reel and half the cotton comes off it and then I have to wind it all back onto the reel again.

Another issue with me is that I know how to close off the end of the repair, by pushing the needle through the same bit 3 times to make a knot, but then I remember I should have done something similar at the starting end, and I didn't.
