Re: The epic shoe thread
Making a joke about a pair of shoes does not equate to the besmirching of the memory of your dear Grandmother, CT.

Re: The epic shoe thread
I had a pair just like this. I'd only worn them to one funeral when I lent them to someone, and then fell out with her before getting them back.
I haven't replaced them and it still annoys me. It's very difficult to get heeled thigh high boots that don't say hooker/drag queen/Cher tribute act, or all three. Too high of heel and you're well into that territory. Same with leather instead of suede. Visible zips rather than concealed. Etc.
If I Could Turn Back Time I'd have never lent them out.

Re: The epic shoe thread
These are wonderful.
It's a real shame that the model has bandy (and at a guess short) legs. That's what comes of this boring 'we don't want models who look like models' conversation.
My colleague hired an assistant who was all about 'body positivity'. She was, needless to say, fuc*ing enormous. Jilly was her name. She used to say things like 'can you believe it's New Look?' - yes Jilly, yes I can.
She eventually spawned and left us. Without invitation she brought it into see me. I had to light up at my desk (and use a teacup as an ashtray)
to get rid of her.

Re: The epic shoe thread
I do have a couple of pairs of these myself - a green/black/white pair and a yellow/navy pair. But I LOVE LOVE LOVE them on guys. I just love it, they look so hot, so swag, so attention grabbing, so big, so immodest, so cool with pretty much any outfit.

You wouldn't know whether you were coming or going.

Re: The epic shoe thread
As discussed yesterday my back is playing up again, so I'm only taking two pairs of shoes to LA. I have compromised a good three and a half inches on preferred height with those mules due to said back pain, but I think they work day and evening. A sensible compromise and as comfortable as a pair of slippers.
Those Tods are my very favourite flat shoes. Good enough for Diana to walk through minefields - good enough for me. They are a bit battered now (purchased 1997) but are also like wearing slippers. Other than the earrings and watch I'll be wearing I'm taking no other accessories. How's that for light packing!

Re: The epic shoe thread
I can't believe this has happened. I have a meeting tomorrow so I went to set my favourite and most comfortable shoes by the full length mirror. The heel has snapped. I do vaguely recall dancing in a nightclub and briefly losing my balance as I spun round on one heel, but I thought they were fine. I didn't realise this catastrophe had happened...
It's fully split - only the metal is keeping the two sections together. It's like the double bottom of the Titanic. I can't believe this has happened.

Re: The epic shoe thread
A great many thanks are owed to my friend in Spain, who has finally come up with a pair of smart shoes that meet with my sons approval...
These are winging their way to us, and I now realise that I was wrong to think he just had no taste - he's simply a perfectionist.
I am myself a lifelong fan of Spanish leather shoes. It's almost beyond rational sense that I'd barely looked in that direction for him.

Re: The epic shoe thread
Aren't these dreadful? They look like what I used to know as 'special shoes'...
Evidently they are the greatest latest thing from Alexander McQueen so I've had to buy them for my sons Christmas.

The black shoes posted on 24/11 and the boots from 02/12 are also here now to be treasured. Both have clocked up admiring words and jealous glances.
