A new departure - GM has me 1200 metres offshore from a little seaside village called Shandwick, itself in the middle of nowhere NE of Inverness.

I certainly prefer it to my usual location, bobbing up and down 10 miles off Blackpool.

Yes, I would regard that as 'Potteries' or 'that horrible crowded bit of the M6 where you can only go 60'.

That's about 15 miles from where I actually am.

Google Maps has identified my location to within 1300m!

Does anyone know if there's a way to determine compass points on Google Maps? That is, for example, if I wanted to know which direction Burnley is in, from Dover, would one be able to do it?

For instance, I'd be able to look at it and go, "Oh, Burnley is 38 degrees north north west of Dover."

I've searched all through the various settings but I can't find anything that relates to compass points.
