Re: I've just realised....
Oh. I guess seeing such high house numbers for myself in real life the other day excited me somewhat more. It seems a very American way of numbering.

Re: I've just realised....
I remember being a young child and my parents were having new bespoke (incredibly 80s) fitted wardrobes installed in their bedroom and their old dark wooden wardrobes were being stored downstairs, in which I played before they were broken up into pieces by my dad.
While playing in or around these old wardrobes, I remember singing Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick, which I've since thought a strange choice of song for me to sing as that was an "old" song by the mid 80s and it surely wouldn't have been played on the radio by that point - and my dad didn't own it. I've often wondered why I'd be singing that particular song and not something else more current.
I've just worked out why this might be so! It turns out that Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick was remixed by Paul Hardcastle and released as a single in May 1985! It only reached number 55 in the charts, but it probably made its way onto our local radio station which my dad used to listen to in the car and when he was doing work around the house. I also associate an inflatable rabbit with these new wardrobes, which I know I acquired on a holiday to Devon - at Easter 1985, around the same time Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick would have been released! It all makes sense. To me.

- Spoiler:
- Here's the 1985 remix in question. I bet Ian Dury purists love this.

I've just realised that if Greg Lake had left ELP, they'd've been EP.
And if Keith Emerson had left ELP, they'd have been LP.

The American sausage term "wiener", also a gr8 American insult, comes from the Vienna sausage - Wien being the German name for Vienna, of course.

What I think of as an "Austin Princess"....
....was never officially called an "Austin Princess", but just a "Princess", almost a make and model in its own right, as manufactured by the uncredited British Leyland of course.

I thought that was an Austin Princess too. We knew someone who had a brown one, with so much rust you didn’t need to open the window to get air. Specifically through the vinyl bit at the back. Through the metal, right through the vinyl, and out to the great beyond outside the car. I wonder why they went out of business.

Yes, the Princess and all the other British Leyland cars had a reputation for poor build quality, even when they were new. Very comfortable apparently though - squashy seats and a smooth ride.

Re: I've just realised....
I've just realised - well, last night I realised - that I don't think I've ever heard Andy Warhol speaking. I only ever see photos and footage of him walking around looking, well, a bit blank.
I caught the end of a documentary about him last night on BBC Four and in that 10 minutes I still didn't hear him speak.
Did he ever speak?

Unless that's someone taking the p***.
The interviewer is a bit disrespectful. And I'm not entirely convinced she's from 1976.

I'm scared to watch. I'm not sure I'm ready to hear his voice after all these years.

It isn't what I expected

It’s so long ago since I was in one I can’t remember the smoothness of the ride. Used to get a lift to school in this brown one from time to time.

Re: I've just realised....
I had a friend who had a similar hairstyle years ago, and we were in the Marlin at Tommy Bahamas on Fifth Avenue having a mainly liquid lunch where the waiter became obsessed by his hair, told him he looked like Warhol, and then kept randomly shouting ‘Andy’ across the premises. Eventually we shouted back ‘f- off’ - to some applause.

The term sic after a misspelt word is Latin.
I've always thought, perhaps something said me at school, that it was an acronym for "spelling incorrect".
