Tourists hanging around the wrong Abbey Road zebra crossing watch!

It happens quite a bit in the temperate and warm months (once a fortnight perhaps), but it occurred twice this early evening. 
Once on my way to Sainsbur' (two young women looking confused and lost) and probably no more that 7 minutes later on my way back from Sainsbur' (two other young women looking confused and lost).
The first couple were quite fluent in English and were grateful and there was the usual humorous banter.
The second pair were considerably less fluent in the planet's lingua franca however and there was a degree of confusion before I started waving my arms about and shrieking and violently pointing.

They should convert that to a pelican crossing. Much safer.

The original crossing was destroyed and redone in the 80s anyway.

You can't say that. Even in my crueller and more cynical moments, I'd never shout 'the original crossing was destroyed and redone in the 80s anyway' at a group of excited tourists as I walked past.

You certainly shouldn't tell them that the studs from that crossing were sold off to collectors. Whether that was done officially by the council, or the workforce just stole them, I do not know.

I do that all the time to tourists about the Nü Cavern club two doors down from the original in Mathew street.

Now I would tell them that. It's the wrong area to pick up studs. They need to know these things.

The Countess is referring to lumps of dumb base metal embedded in the thoroughfares of urban Tarmacadam that have been plundered for their base chthonic and supposed cultural, touristic charms.
