Tasteless f***ers. I have to say, Edinburgh did it better. Northolt to Paddington is an especially grim stretch. Things only improved again, scenery wise, as things approached Lancaster Gate. Park Lane was lit up like the Vegas strip, although it looked suitably glittering after the A40.

My mother's very first journey was in one of these. My grandmother was so horrified by the common woman in the next bed on the maternity ward, she was dressed and packed an hour or so after my mother was born. Two nuns flagged a cab down for her, and one held my mother while the other helped my grandmother in first.

As the cortege approached Bucko Pallers I'm sure someone threw something.

There was a distinct thump akin to a conker hitting bespoke coachwork.

I think that, in the grand scheme of things, rather a direct hit from a deciduous seed-fruit delivered by an alcopop-intoxicated guttersnipe from the Cockney-Banlieues or a genuine anti-royalist, anarcho-bizzum than a gormlessly 'millennial-whoop'-meister.

I heard that noise too. I thought either someone had thrown something or a tyre had burst. As no vicious scrap on the roadside immediately commenced, I decided that nothing untoward had been thrown. Perhaps that was premature of me.

While I've been I pretty horrified by the arrests so far (and I thought the anti Andrew heckler was far too polite), I'd be all in favour of arrest and imprisonment for anyone who threw something at anyone's hearse.

I don't like mushrooms but I'm very partial to Quorn.

It's only been a few days, and my nerves are already stretched taut by the number of news presenters and talking heads who pronounce King by sounding the G at the end. It's absolutely unbearable. Ugly, superfluous, and wrong in all senses of the word. Stuff like that makes me half think that teachers should still be allowed to wrap a ruler round offenders knuckles before they are unleashed upon the rest of us.

Yes, it is a bit strange. But then of course these funeral plans have been in place for decades; the hearse probably got replaced with a newer model every few years that the Queen remained alive!

The (normal) Jaguar XJ hasn't actually been made for three years so the hearse must be that old or older.

Ahh, a Jag makes more sense than a Lexus.

That whole Windsor estate freaks me out. The burial vaults under the floors. The actual full scale mausoleums in the grounds. Full of mouldering cadavers of various vintages. It is such a creepy set up. And they actually all seem to want to live there - except the pair that quite understandably ran for the Pacific coast. It's like The Addams Family.

There isn't enough money in the world that would make me choose to sleep there for a single night.

I was planning just now when to start drinking on Christmas Day at my parents', when I realised that now the queen's regenerated, there won't be a Queen's Speech to forget to watch. It'll be the new guy.
