They're like the most overbearing carol singers of all time.

An Alain Stivell-like coda.

Over.
That was really not very good.
Or original.
A spice melange of spices gone past their use by dates.
Like when paprika clumps together and goes brown - not hazardous to health, but also fairly useless as an ingredient to jazz up anything tasty.
And dried basil.
And dried parsley.
Probably not as bad as those last two though.
Still...

In some of the actual film frames you can see C Hawtrey on the truck with the young people, raising a toast (and so presumably not in character, which is a pity, because it would be nice for his character to get some closure).

I always assumed that he was in character and was literally jumping on the bandwagon (basically taking advantage of a situation/liberties as he has throughout the film to suit himself).
I see it as the conclusion of a successful story arc.

Re: The Fool- The Fool (1968).
He is not seen to be interested in drinking/sex earlier in the film though.
In fact he and Terry and Betty Marston are in a sealed-off subplot for most of it. I think Tez and Bez only have one interaction with the other characters - he when he is implausibly offered s*x by the blue dress girl (pictured waving), she when she reminds the Sid party of K Williams' ornithology talk at 7pm in front of the latrines.
And I don't know if Hawtrey's character interacts with any other characters at all.
