It's not really working for me either. It did go a bit paler though after a few seconds.

I remember we had a video recorder with a red light on it that if I stared at a certain part of the video recorder the red light would magically vanish.

We then did about this exact thing in science at school, that we have an area of our.... eyes or brain or something, that can block out certain images at certain angles. Or something.

The first time I knowingly saw that effect was on a Pirates of the Caribbean knock off ride at Drayton Manor theme park in the early 90s, with some comedy ghosts at the end of the ride.
