The 'having workmen in' experience

A man has come round to my parents' house to fit various handrails.
He's got the radio on in his van outside at about 100dB, so he can listen to it inside while he's working.
Unfortunately my laptop and I are a lot closer to the van.

He's gone now.
He did quite a good job though. And they're nice wooden handrails.

If they aren’t happy go lucky types - although they usually are, I like to create a safe space where they can tell me of their troubles. I’ve learned so much from having workmen in and, I like to think, they from me. Also, free use of the facilities including the shower.

Having said that, three appreciative young Arabs doing a drug deal on a mews corner as you come home from dinner/pub can give them a run for their money. Bit of a boyband look going on. I doubt they were blue collar.
