Re: The cash cash money thread
I get paid tomorrow, I'm so excited. I've got a new plan for saving up money in advance to cover February and March 2020, cos Feb and March are the two months when I'm always most potless.

Re: The cash cash money thread
I've just had my car insurance renewal quote - I thought it would be like £900, because of my car being written off in October, but it's less than £500.
Because I prudently set aside £900 to cover it, I now have £400 to spare. Plus, I don't have to save up so much money for the next two renewals. (I always plan big expenses up to 2 years ahead).

My application for a Tesco credit card has been accepted
I now have 3 credit cards, and access to a total credit limit of 15 grand.
This will enable me to further build up my credit record so I can get an extra-low mortgage rate when I eventually move to the House of Escape.
I think.

At this rate, you won't need a mortgage. You can just buy the house with your credit cards.

I've just been paid. Now I've got an hour to do my start-of-month bookkeeping before I go out.

Re: The cash cash money thread
I was thinking of opening a current account with one of those 'challenger banks' they have now.
But they wanted me not only to take a photo of my documentation and send it to them, but also to make a video of myself saying who I am and that I want to open an account.
Quite apart from the unpleasant 'hostage video' associations, I'm not sure I want to be sending them videos, they might all be laughing at the funniest ones at the Christmas party.

Ha ha. My account is now open. Laugh it up, Christmas party mockers, I'm now free from the restrictions of the Fangirlshire Building Society's current account terms
Re: The cash cash money thread
The debit card has arrived. It's one of those smart new ones where one side is just a design, without any embossed numbers or letters.

You don't. You can only shop at modern places.

Re: The cash cash money thread
I was just looking at the picture of a rather younger Queen on a £10 and £20 note I received today. How come they didn't update her picture for new £10 note? I wonder when that image is from; it's the same one as the older £20 note.

If I was to move, I think I'd buy a house rather than a flat, simply to have these front doors installed...

Re: The cash cash money thread
Does anyone know what happens if a strange account in a foreign country deposits a shade over £29,000 in one of your accounts?
I've rung the bank and they say it's from someone in the United States, and to leave it untouched until/unless an attempt is made to claw it back.
I could do with that money myself. I'm convinced my MOT isn't go to go well, so I was thrilled by those being pushed back by six months.

On top of that, there's all the shopping I intend to do when they open, as part of my citizens duty to help the economy along.
Has anyone here successfully kept an accidental transaction without their credit rating presumably plunging through the floor?

I would be watching out for anyone contacting you asking you to transfer the money back by making a correspondingly sized payment to them - minus a proportion which you can keep as a reward for your honesty etc. Because then they reverse the original deposit.
Let the bank deal with the whole reversing process.

Ahh, clever. I won't touch a penny until I'm physically at the bank in person.
