Given those ambitious cumuli I mentioned earlier, I wouldn't be overly surprised if there was some thunder later. But I think it's possible rather than probable.

Just been watching loads of flashes of lightning in the far distance night sky to the west. The Lightning Maps website shows that the lightning is directly over the Shropshire hills to the south of Shrewsbury - a fair distance from me. But we're high up here so can see for miles.

Some massive flashes lighting up the whole sky - but very little thunder. And no rain.

It appears to have rained overnight but I didn't hear any thunder. Or any rain. Which is odd cos I felt like I was awake half the night.

Lot's of Thunderbolts and lightning, at about 1:30 this morning, very very frightening me.

Around 2 o'clock, there was thunder and lightning going off like a mad thing and also gales and hail. The local trees were flapping around all over the place, in a panic.

Sadly, it was all sheet lightning, so I didn't see any magnificent forks of electricity.

Despite all the lightning, I only saw a couple of actual streaks of lightning - one across the sky and another in the distance which struck the ground - but most of it was just very bright flashes.

Even though Wakrfield's to the north of where I am, and the thunder's clearly coming from the south west of here.
