Lyrics that don't make sense Empty Lyrics that don't make sense

I must confess that I've spent most of Boxing Day worrying over the lyrics to ELO's 1980 smash hit All Over the World.

Its first verse goes:

Everybody all around the world
Gotta tell you what I just heard
There's gonna be a party all over the world
I got a message on the radio
But where it came from, I don't really know
And I heard these voices calling all over the world.

None of it makes sense. If he's heard a message on the radio but doesn't have a clue where it came from, why does he believe it's true?

And just how is he, himself, telling everyone all around the world about it? Does he have his own global broadcasting network?

Also, how come he seems to be the only one who's heard about it? Where, exactly, is this party? Have venues been booked? Have drinks and food been ordered? Why have the organisers of this global party done such a bad job that no one but him seems to be aware of its existence?

Also, why does the last line of the verse make it sound like he may have a serious psychiatric condition, when that's clearly not the intention of the song?

Anyrodeup, this thread is where everyone can post any examples they may stumble across of lyrics that don't make any sense once you start to think about it.
