Re: Smileys on this forum
So, which of the new suggested smileys do people want? And, don't forget, our smiley memory bank is full, which means that, to add smileys, we have to delete old ones. So, which old smileys do people want deleted to make way for the new ones?

I would not be in favour of deletion. I'm firmly of the school of thought that rapid impulse should be restricted to one's personal life.

Although if a space comes up in the medium term, I offer the "I'm no longer a little girl but a seasoned woman of the world who's watching you and will take over directing if there's a hint of incompetence" look...

Here's an idea which would solve this problem and be a fun new activity for our forum.
Each month Wendi picks up to 4 new smiley suggestions for possible promotion to the smiley league.
She also picks the same number of existing smileys for possible deletion. These are considered to be up for re-election.
All these candidates are publicly notified here on the NHOTW.
At the end of the month the promotion candidates which have seen the most use are added, and the re-election candidates which have seen the least use are deleted.
Obviously she doesn't have to bother to count the uses if she doesn't want to, she just forms an impression.

I'm now trying to develop a way to put this idea into practice. I will get back to you all on it.
In the meantime, any suggestions from you all, on how to implement it, will be appreciated.

Some of the 'Wendi picks...' 'Wendi decides' could be replaced by forum discussions.
Also we might start with just a 1 in, 1 out pair to try the idea out and cut down the admin.

I predict that this proposal will begin an apocalypse of rage and recrimination.

Re: Smileys on this forum
Wendi, is it strictly 1 in, 1 out across the board, or are the 'Default Smileys' here to stay?
Or to put it another way, is there a category of smiley that we can't eject?

Re: Smileys on this forum
For me, the man with his arms up can go. So can the one bouncing the ball. I've never seen anyone use the crying one, 2nd from left, nor the one with the exclamation mark, nor the question mark one.
I've never seen anyone use the one with the X instead of a mouth, nor the smiling one with the big teeth.
These are my nominations for deletion.

At the weekend, I shall delete the following smileys, unless someone demands that any of them stay.

The eyeroll one should be the forum standard  one.
