It's a well-known fact that there's only one thing better than a sit-com.
And that's a movie based on a sit-com.
And it's also a well-known fact that all movies based on sit-coms are masterpieces.
Here's where we can rave about our favourite movies that are based on sit-coms.

The only ones I can remember ever liking are:
Please Sir. Rising Damp. Porridge. One of the Steptoe films but I don't know which one.

It was at either the Odeon or the ABC on Westbourne Grove and I went with my Mum.

They always used to play that one at us as school.
One of the actors in it looked just like the PE teacher.

I think the song "Without You" by Nilsson was playing over the opening scene and it made me go a bit weepy and I tried to hide it from my Mum in the gloom of the auditorium.

I liked the way they got the writers in on the 'Celebrity Football team'.
I like that film
I think I also like the Whatever Happened to the Likey Lads, same 70s depressing feel to it.

I had a teacher who made us watch animated Disney films*, in a classroom plastered with Cliff Richard posters. She sang along - Hi Ho, Beauty and the Beast, etc.
For a woman of such gentle tastes, it came as an upsetting surprise how loudly she screamed when she caught me trying to discreetly escape.
*And a French teacher who showed filthy continental films and loved to tell us about her many truck driver conquests at service stations all over France.

The one with the greyhound or the one where he gets married? I don't know which is which.

I need to watch that again.
The I, Partridge audio book reading was 6 hours of brilliance.
They seem to have taken it off YouTube for some reason, but this is still up,

The one where Harold thinks the baby might be his at the end and it, er... isn't.
That is so heartbreaking.
Genuine pathos.
Truly depressing.
Everything that British sitcoms of the '60s/'70s should be about.

Probably she'd have been better off teaching primary school kids. It was all a bit strange to 14 year olds, and it was only funny before we realised this would be a regular thing. It was like watching someone having a nervous breakdown.

The Porridge one is good, also the Bless This House one isn't nearly as bad as you might expect.
And there's another one I can't remember. Dammit I had it a minute ago.
