Re: Malcolm McLaren – Duck Rock 1983
I prefer West African afro-soul and the North African bedouin/Maghreb sound. ![aristojar](/users/3715/63/33/29/smiles/2591357779.gif)

He usually appears as an old man on a crutch or with a cane, wearing a broad-brimmed straw hat and smoking a pipe, or drinking sparkling water. The dog is sacred to him. Legba is syncretized with Saint Peter, Saint Lazarus, and Saint Anthony.

The whole enterprise falls down on a relentless over-reliance on tradition South African 'pop' music.
I never really took to its ambling Afro-Jazz meanderings.

It's like McLaren, after discovering South African jazz-funk, recognised that the really strong commercial hook was the nascent NYC, South Bronx hipperty-hopperty sound for UK and Euro audiences.
It's like, I say.
I'd put my favourite shirt on it.
