A motorbike race has now begun out there. Why would anyone want to have such antisocial exhausts? I'm not a fan of banning things even if I strongly disapprove, but I can't see any need for that noise level to be legal.

Actually they're doing something with the drains or something just around the corner. Yesterday I had to cross the road to avoid the workers sunbathing.

There are crows outside, making a racket. But you never hear crows at night.

They're planning their takeover.

Very strange goings on as I enjoyed a cigarette out of the window. Two dark and seemingly unmarked vans pulled up, blocking each exit to this part of the street. Out jumped armed police and a quick conclave with lots of hand direction signs in the street. A group of them then went to a door further down the road. Within five minutes they were heading back to their vehicles with five people in handcuffs behind their backs. Two women in one van, three men in the other. 

They've driven off into the silent night. I heard things exactly like this used to happen in Stalin's Moscow.

My neighbour's got his 'key worker' cone outside his house again. He wants people to think he's a nurse or something, but he works in admin at the hospital. I hate him.

Next door have got the builders in. Should I grass them up to the authorities?

I carefully timed this evening's Survivors watch so it wouldn't be interrupted by the hour of the clap.

But now I've got the urge to drunkenly reel outside at 8pm and pick up the cone out of his front garden and batter his car with it, shrieking incoherently.

I have, but I was married to the cars owner, and it wasn't a traffic cone, it was a couple of tins of white emulsion.

What you could do is just pop out much later, and move the cone quietly and discreetly into a nearby skip/your own shed/other appropriate place.

I'm sure I saw on the news weather that an extra blast of winter is predicted, in which case I can't recommend a bucket of water on his front steps strongly enough. 

Obviously I learned that from Home Alone, but I'm pleased to report that it does actually work.

He's got another one stored in his back garden, I can see it from here.

Oh of course it is, yes. I was wondering what that picture reminded me of. 

If you can climb over the back fence without making a noise, I'd hide that one too.

Since I got up, at 6:30, I've seen one finch, one pigeon and one magpie.

Otherwise, I have seen no sign of any birds.

And here they are...

I can't see a single bird outside.

They all seem to have disappeared.
