They replaced my streetlights with white ones five years ago.

In fact, I don't know if there are any orange ones left in Sheffield, apart from the occasional ones attached to the sides of houses.

Our road had really ancient streetlamps with gentle white light up until the mid 2000s, then one day they all got ripped out and replaced with glaring orange ones. Then as I say those too have more recently been ripped out and replaced, but with white lights again.

I heard a loud bang that sounded like a bomb going off and, since I've been t*tivating my hi-fi today and cleaning out my 'oover, I had the front door open onto the communal balcony and happened to see the whole thing more-or-less occur before my eyes.

The car's that the suspects were in was totalled in the middle of the road with a plain clothes cop car lurking further up the street and a trail of smashed and pranged parked cars that were obviously clipped as the suspect's car pin-balled along having lost control.

Saw a lanky bloke running like a whippet on poppers away from the scene...

And a flustered-looking lady cuffed and detained by a burly plain clothes rozzer on the pavement...

It's too exciting where Nightjar lives. I think I'd be a nervous wreck.

There's nothing in the news about it.

I have been as close as 2.8 miles to that location.

My neighbours have just hurried out of their house with a load of suitcases. Either they're going on holiday or the police will be here in about half an hour.

Next door is having an open home. There is much coming and going. Peeking out the window casually noticing as I go about my business they would all make good neighbours.

On Tuesday evening a rozzer knocked on my door and told me that someone in my block had had "a serious threat made against them" and that I was to call the police if I saw or heard anything unusual, or anyone dodgy looking hanging about.

There are only 12 flats in my block, so whoever it is (they wouldn't say, obvZ) lives very very close by.

Then, yesterday evening, as I walked home there were dozens of cop cars and vans lights-a-flashin' gathered on Abbey Road at the far end of the (famous) Alexandra Estate with all people shouting and gesticulating.

Then, later, as I ate my tea, I heard my upstairs neighbour having a very loud shouting match with someone and actually called the police.


They said it was good that I'd called.

Nobody came.


I guess I can rule him out as a potential threatee.

Not right now but about 3 hours ago when it was still light a man rode past on a bicycle.
He looked exactly like Santa Claus. Beard, build, age. Was wearing a bright orange shirt which seems suspicious to me. Almost like what you would expect him to wear while trying to stay incognito.

New neighbours moving in…
