| I have just made a ragout of chicken (sliced, 51p off in Sainsburys bargain bin) with tomatoes, courgettes and onions. Delicious. I was going to have pasta with it, but I didn't, and I'm glad because it was quite filling enough on its own. _________________ ' "Haven't got houses." Where do they live then?'

| I made the ragout again, but with lamb this time (simmered for an extra 30 minutes). It was fl*pping delicious, the nicest thing I've cooked from scratch for months. _________________ ' "Haven't got houses." Where do they live then?'

| Once again, eating lamb kept me awake almost all night with digestive rumblings. _________________ ' "Haven't got houses." Where do they live then?'

| I've just had an Oreo. What a disappointment, it was just a slightly gritty sandwich biscuit. _________________ ' "Haven't got houses." Where do they live then?'

| I've only ever had one packet of Oreos. I too was disappointed. In my case, I found them far too sweet for my liking. _________________ |

| Ain't that the truth. I had one hidden in my 'pending' tray all morning, and I could smell it from where I was sitting, at least 1m away. _________________ ' "Haven't got houses." Where do they live then?'

| I made a delicious risotto for lunch. The reason my previous ones didn't work out is I was using brown rice, which apparently isn't suitable because it won't go fluffy/sticky like the white stuff, which I used this time. _________________ ' "Haven't got houses." Where do they live then?'

| If you make it with brown rice it becomes a kind of pilaf. _________________ Disprove the return of a potato (5)

| I have just had potatoes, mushy peas, mushrooms and mixed vegetables with a sprinklng of curry powder added. I do not know if this combination of ingredients has a specific name. _________________ |

| I reckon that's 'mushy peas, mushrooms and mixed vegetables aloo'. _________________ ' "Haven't got houses." Where do they live then?'

Yes, that would be quite a good description of my many attempts at brown rice risotto over the years. |
