It is over.
It did all the things you expect Elton John to do but did them less engagingly than you expect him to do.

Well, considering how highly regarded it is, that was a disappointment.
Some good bits here and there, but probably only a couple of consistently strong songs.
The album had a solid, nicely produced sound throughout, but ultimately it was a bit meh.
Again, it's worth reiterating that he was only about 22 when he wrote and recorded the album, but still...
