Today's exciting breaking news is that President Biden has picked a dandelion clock from the grass and handed it to his wife Jill to blow, despite the fact they'd both got masks on. In non-Nightjar's bot related news, my garden has lots of skeleton dandelions, as I've suspended weeding in favour of getting all my stuff out of the house.

A flying one went up my nose when I was mowing the lawn yesterday.

Not quite as epic as it going up my nose, but I saw a dandelion clock seed go floating past the window today, like a tiny parachute.


*Not to be confused with a "fairy", which is a much rounder and fluffier type of seed.

After a bit of research, the latter might be seeds from rosebay willowherb, as seen launching in their millions in this video.

Each one of those will be floating in through an open classroom window on a summer's day.

I have flowers in my garden which I've always assumed were red dandelions but the Wikipedia page on dandelions makes no mention of there being red dandelions. Does anyone know if they are dandelions and, if not, what are they?
