My new plumbago auriculata needs a good blast of sustained direct heat. I've dragged it outside from its position in the living room (no small feat due to the heaviness of the terracotta pot it's in/weight of soil/the plant itself being already very tall) where wilt has already occurred, and positioned it to benefit from south and west facing light.

Yeah I notice the forecast for Tuesday for here has now gone down to 36 C. Which is still nearly 97 F.

The last time we had weather like that, I spent the day at a military re-enactment. I nearly collapsed after walking home, I was so hot.

Currently 21 degrees.

Expected to peak at 26 degrees.

Tuesday is now predicted to peak at 38 degrees, round here.

The day after is expected to peak at just 19 degrees.

Is that the biggest ever drop in temperature in a 24 hour period?

The Met Office are predicting a relatively frosty 37°C for London on Tuesday. freezing

You may joke about scarves etc, but I once had to buy a sweater when I arrived in Spain to find it was only 39c, having flown there from somewhere hotter. I still have it - a basic red sweatshirt from an H&M I dashed into. I'll always remember it with pleasure for it taking the edge off the chill until I had acclimatized.

Today's expected peak, here, is 30 degrees.

Tuesday's is still 38.
