ABC or Scabiesy?
Re: ABC - The Lexicon of Love (1982)
Well, I knew that the hits were great fun, but I was surprised to find that "Poison Arrow" and, especially, "All of My Heart" were far better than TLOL.
All round it was a jolly good listen.
Smashing even.
Very mood-lifting.
Ludicrous on many levels - beyond-pompous production, too slick by half if you're nit-picking and bursting with absolutely ridiculous lyrics - but never dislikable and, on occasion, absolutely perfect blue-eyed soul/pop genius.

Ultimately, I feel that, considering what it was and what it was aiming for, it was pretty much flawless.
Ultimately, I feel that I can only give it top marks.

I actually thought mine would be the highest vote.

Only a very select few albums get 5 stars from me. I'd "only" give Thriller a 4.

Re: ABC - The Lexicon of Love (1982)
I've had and enjoyed a remastered Lexicon of Love CD for ages but recently picked up an early CD version from a charity shop and listened to it last night - it really is an outstanding album. I'd upgrade my score to a 5 if I could (and reduce Thriller to a 3). It may actually be my favourite early 80s album, if not one of the best of the entire decade. Trevor Horn's production is just delicious. I guess Frankie Goes to Hollywood pretty much killed off any further true success of ABC and took up too much of Trevor Horn's time. Who'd favour gold lame suits over rough and ready Holly Johnson and friends?
That said, "Lexicon" is a far better album overall than "Pleasuredome". Or Grace's "Slave". I think I'll stop at that.

Judging by the consistent high voting this really is the album that bridges all genres and tastes!
