Fuming, swirling clouds of hydrogen oxide are the price we pay for living on a planet with an atmosphere partly composed of highly reactive oxygen.

I've been watching the eclipse for the last hour. The moon's all dark except for the right-hand edge, and the lower half is dark red.

Fine line-up of Venus, Moon and Jupiter in the SE sky here in Britain right now (and until the sun comes up).

I've stayed at work extra late so as to have a go at spotting Mercury on the way home (there's a much clearer SW horizon from work).
I've brought my monocular with me!
Don't get too excited mind, I have a 40 year track record of failing to spot Mercury despite numerous tries.

But won't you go blind from looking at the sun?

You have to wait for the sun to go down first, otherwise Mercury is lost in the glare.
I duly went on Mercury patrol last night 5.45-6.05, walking up and down one of the ridges in the car park with my monocular, no doubt looking like a prize plum. Didn't see it though
But I'm having another go today
