I'm bitterly disappointed with the Bank Holiday Monday telly fair.

With the exception of a Sinbad movie and Tipping Point being on at 4:30pm instead of 4pm it's just been exactly like normal.

I do feel the August Bank Holiday is a very undefined one. Someone needs to come up with a gimmick to make it stand out from the others.

An awful Wallace and Gromit movie was on BBC One at 6pm instead of the news. That's typical Bank Holiday Monday.

Well, round my neck of the woods, it's always been associated with the Notting Hill Carvinal.

When did we last all go down to the beach hut?

I could just do with some warm chicken paste rolls and crisps with sand in them.

It's very quiet this Bank Holiday morning. If we left early we could beat the traffic and get a good parking space.

I'm glad we didn't go today. The sight of the flat grey clouds over the sea would have filled me with angst and forebodings about the oncoming winter, mixed with half-understood recollections of economic hard times from my childhood.

My bank holiday has started!

The last one before Christmas.

Still, I've bought chocolate and biscuits and pizzas and beer.

This year I cunningly spent August 7th, which was the Scottish summer bank holiday, in England.

So - working remotely for an English employer as I do - I get the benefit of a day off on Monday while everyone here works, without the sadness of having to be working while everyone here has a day off.

Only 22 days to go.

Ooh, I'd forgotten that today is a Scottish bank holiday. That accounts for the quietness of the traffic.
