After a school recital in which she sang Tina Charles' 1976 hit "I Love to Love" [aged 11] her teachers sent a recording of the performance to Iceland's (then) only radio station.
It was broadcast nationally and after hearing it, a representative of the Falkinn record label offered young Bjork a recording contract.

Howard Jones was relatively very successful in America and throughout Europe, having several top 10 hits in each country. I've always thought of him as a sort two hit wonder and only known in this country; a poor man's Nik Kershaw.
Howard Jones didn't feature on my young radar at the time whereas several of Nik Kershaw's hits were part of the music I'd hear as a very young child.

Apparently there supposed to be a space between the number and SI units, so it's 25 g not 25g

Re: Breaking learning thread Part 2.
Yeah, but you're also supposed to use spaces in big numbers instead of commas, like '25 000 km' but no-one does.

Re: Breaking learning thread Part 2.
Yesterday I found a Tesco Decimalisation Training Manual from 1971 in amongst some family heirlooms.
I learnt something I didn't know, namely that you could still spend old pennies and old 3d bits after 'D-Day' on Feb 15 1971, but you had to tender them in 6d chunks because 6 old pence exactly equalled 2½p.
The manual predicted that this 'Changeover Period' would last up to 18 months. I looked up just now to see how long it did last, but couldn't get exact data. All the articles say people got used to the new money so rapidly that it just petered out after 6 months or so.
