I suspect it will be hard work mowing the lawn this week. Not only is it a very hot day, but I didn't mow it last week cosof all the rain, and now the grass is really long again.

My weeds need massacring. I can't be bothered to do it. It's too sunny and there's too much people activity outside.

I mowed the lawns. The long grass was less of a challenge than I anticipated, but gosh the sun was hot.

I've been going to a weekly container gardening class. The teacher gets mixed up with names. Week 1, she kept calling the guy next to me 'Matt'. In week 2, she was calling him 'Mike' (and I thought he looked different without his baseball cap). Only in week 3 when Matt and Mike were in class, did I realise they're not one and the same. Shocked

I mowed the lawns this morning cos I read that it was going to rain later, and now it has rained. So I feel very pleased with myself indeed bowtie

I was hard at work in the garden this afternoon cutting back the foliage, and making a survey of the shed roof prior to repairing it.

Then I sat in a deckchair with a cup of tea and lorded it over my domain.

It's been raining lightly all day, but I went out and gardened anyway.

It was surprisingly pleasant.

It wasn't scary either. Except for the way that, while digging over the potato patch, I kept thinking of the dead hitman guard subplot from series 4 of OITNB.

Earlier today, as I was out and about, I encountered a house whose garden was festooned with notices warning that it contained Japanese knotweed. It made it seem like a terrifying place to even stand near. scared

I painstakingly hand-weeded the front lawn this afternoon. A lot of the grass died in the dry summer and hasn't grown back yet, and that's allowed weeds to flourish.

I must have hoiked out at least 100 weeds with my weeder.

It was that weeder that last year's burglar stole from my shed and used to break into my house and my neighbour's, before leaving it on the kitchen table. I had to go round and identify it before the police gave it back to me.

I've already got pretty flowers thank you, grape hyacinths which add colour to the lawn in the spring. Naturally I didn't weed those out.

It's comparatively warm today, nearly 12 degrees. So I'm thinking of going out and weeding the path.

I'm not committing myself to anything mind.

I noticed the other day that the snowdrops are coming through, but I can't remember if they appear due to mildness or simply at the same time every year whatever the temperature.

I am officially on the brink of going out into the garden.

If I put my gardening jeans on, that's the crucial point.
