It had better have irradiated mutants in it.

I watched The Mole People. The Call of the Wendigo wrote:And then The Mole People. The Call of the Wendigo wrote:That's followed by The Twilight Zone and then Earth vs the Flying Saucers. The Call of the Wendigo wrote:The 7th Voyage of Sinbad is on Legend, at 6:40.
And then Hellraiser II.
It was my third attempt at watching it. On my two previous attempts, I fell asleep and missed most of it. Last night, thanks to my tactic of setting my alarm to go off every 15 minutes, I managed to make it all the way through it.
But something did strike me. The prologue has that wonderful speech by that professor about the history of the Hollow Earth theory, in order to set the film up.
Except, having now actually seen the movie, it's clear that the film has nothing to do with the Hollow Earth theory. The subterranean city in it is close to the top of a mountain and only a few yards below the surface. Therefore, the good professor's speech is totally irrelevant.

One of the gr8est British horror film's eva.
Surprisingly - and at times startlingly - gory, gruesome and macabre though.

It's like Dr. Phibes, but much more violent and stomach-churning.
Shirley, you must've seen it before, Wendi-Pops.

Although it merges into Dr Phibes in my mind and they have become just one film, for me.

I'm not sure whether it was by design, but they're definitely companion pieces by default - and I include the Phibes sequel in this - but ToB is brutal and genuinely macabre by comparison.
Phibes is a rollicking romp with lurid and imaginative 'offings' and sausage, binz and chippinz', but ToB really goes the full Shaky-spear-love, Elizabethan bloodbath and eviscerations route.
For me, the bit where they slowly saw Arthur Lowe's head off to a background of sentimental classical music is one of the film scenes that damaged my fragile little mind forever.
Then after it's the funeral and the headless body gets dragged past by wild horses.
Somewhere in between his head's been stuck on a milk bottle as well.
Then there's Robert Morley...
