Well, I sort of like it all, though I can see why it ended up in my "best of the rest" CD boxes - but kept in my collection nonetheless and didn't get re-charity-shopped.

I like the angsty, sultryness of her vocals and lyrics and some of the melodies, but it is just a bit too guitar-heavy and harsh for my liking - and very samey throughout.

Ultimately, I didn't enjoy really in any significant way from beginning to end any of it, but at the same I wasn't upset and enraged or repulsed at any point either.

In certain respects, that's arguably the worse thing you can say about an album - or indeed, any work of art or calculated cultural effort.

Perhaps that's where it collapsed (morally even) - it was a calculated cultural expression that sat redoubtably in it's own puddle of babyfood-consistency, corporately devised, lab-built synthetic spleen-bubble mush of mediocrity.

One day, my Nu-HotW review summaries will be collected in a series of hardcover books that become available just before Christmas and sell for £7.99 at Waterstones and get bought by family members for relatives that they perceive as being into music and arty stuff and that will end up being dumped on bog-side tables and shelves to be read by people doing a really long poo and which will, as a result, become the most unhygienic, bacteria-infused objects in any home (in some cases, more the bog brush).

This is the aim at least.
