I'm getting the impression that, despite their potential for commercial success, the music is just too art-jazz-funk and technically busy and hard edged production-wise to've broken through onto the Simon Bates show. sad yes

It's very 80s but not very polished. Others achieved a similar, but more polished sound a year or two later.
