As recommended by the Internet, I have just put a shelf above my radiator and bubble wrap on my big window and on the window above my door. I can't wait to see what difference it makes to the temperature. My thermostat is still set to 16 degrees. Excited

I've just laid a shelf from my living room cabinet on top of the window sill, overhanging, and let gravity hold it in place. If it works, I shall install a proper shelf.

You've tampered with the Devil's own device now I'm afraid.

Things like radiators should not be touched on any account.

Not by you, not by someone who thinks they 'know about about things like that' and not even by professionals.

Basically, your blood will now reach a roiling simmer within the next half hour and you'll have to live the rest of your life standing halfway inside the outside doorway onto the street and watch repeats of of TotPs and Star Track via a series of strategically placed mirrors placed in the hallway and propped on a chair or sofa.

What's more, because you'll need to evacuate your home partially imminently, someone else dressed in an asbestos suit will have to come and do it for you. sad yes
