The modern 3.5" old disks (80s) were reliable, the new (90s) ones, less so.

My keyboard was playing up first thing this morning. It would randomly repeat keys even though I'd stopped touching them



It worked OK when I unplugged and replugged it, but I'm worried it might go wrong again. I'd best go and buy a spare one.

My computer is creeping me out,

I made a 30-mile round trip to Kilmarnock through appalling weather to get that new keyboard, and I've never needed to use it. It's in my storage unit.

Oh, it's not a sad story for me, just an annoying one. The new keyboard is ready for action whenever required.

Ooh, they upgraded the Mac mini range, maybe it's time to update my late 2014 one…

I was backing stuff up onto USB sticks yesterday, and I had to press some old 32 and 16G ones into service. The transfer speed was so slow! Between 50K/s and 500K/s typically. It took all night to back up my miscellaneous directory.

Can you not use an external HD/SSD instead?

Memory sticks are notoriously prone to failing.

I have got 3 external HDs, but they're a nuisance to get out, so I only back up to them once a week. I like the sticks as a daily solution.

It's true about failure, one of the ones I tried to use yesterday wouldn't work, or take a reformatting, it had to be scrapped.

I bought a fast new 128G stick today, which cruises at 3M/s, that's more like it.

Yesterday they said I could update my Windows 10 partition to Windows 11!!!eleven!!



It took it half an hour to tell me that my computer wasn't able to be updated.

I'm still using Linux Mint.

I've just hacked it, and installed Windows 11 anyway,

Wonder if they was a good idea?

I've fixed my mouse so the scroll wheel now works correctly, how does all that dust get down there?

The power cable for my laptop has started to fray at the end where it plugs into the laptop. So, I've had to order another one. Now I have to hope the current cable holds out until it arrives.

I've got a couple of spare cables from other laptops I've owned but I don't know if it's safe to use them in a machine they weren't originally intended for.
